What we set out to solve
HS-Auctions had a working MVP, but no clear path to monetization and none of the reliability a merchant needs to trust their storefront to it. Turning a prototype into something merchants would actually pay for and depend on meant rebuilding the foundations, not just adding features.
How we got there
We took HS-Auctions from MVP to a production-grade Shopify app: a Remix-based embedded admin, a storefront auction widget merchants install directly on their theme, and real-time bidding over WebSockets built on serverless AWS infrastructure so it holds up under high-stakes, time-boxed traffic spikes. We added automated auction lifecycle management and subscription billing so the product itself could sustain revenue, then stayed on as the team's ongoing engineering partner as the merchant base grew.
